Name of Assignment: Homegoing Project
Subject: English Facilitator/Teacher: Ms.Terry Description of Work/Assignment: For this Assignment Ms.Terry Assigned us different chapters of the book "Homegoing" by the author Yaa Gyasi . I was assigned to the character "Sonny" . His Chapter was about how different things changed him as a person. Also part of this assignment we had to make slides but the rule was we can only use one word to explain how the chapter went in our presentation . We also had to choose if we wanted to act out our chapter or create a slideshow to summarize your chapter , but I chose to do a art piece explaining my chapter . Using Clay, paint , and hot glue to glue the boards together . Also using powder for the affect. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? I feel like Thinking and problem solving addresses this assignment because I really had to think really hard on my art piece because I really wanted to show the full experience through my work. Also for problem solving , I had a little problem with the hands in the middle , it was having a difficult time standing up. I solved it with hot glue . What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I am most proud of the way I presented this project because using one word and to explain the chapter without a summary was very difficult but it worked out well when you actually read and learn the book. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? How I develop Thinking and problem solving skills is I identified and understood the problem quickly when it came to the skulpture . Also I learned how to brainstorm creative solutions to keep the sculpture in tacked. What was most difficult about completing this task? The most difficult about completing this task was reading the book honestly I do not like books but Ms Terry taught me to never judge a book by its cover. You never know how interesting the book can be and it was . How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? I wouldn’t do anything differently , I am very proud of my project and if I could present it again I would. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? This relates when my art teacher Ms. Getzen taught me how to sculpt in my art class, she really helped me get in depth into my new sculptures now. How can you apply this to future learning? I can apply this to future learning when I do presentations , using one word without a summary won't scare me as much but knowing I have done it before I can do it again . |
